Your Charitable Giving Impact in 2023

Charitable giving is why we do what we do here at SageSpring. We believe that when we steward our finances well, we get to be a blessing out of the overflow. In case you didn’t know, charitable giving can have a big impact on non-profit organizations, communities, and people around the world. Last year, Americans gave more than $499 billion to charitable organizations.1 We’re proud to share that our clients were a small percentage of that number of people making a difference through charitable giving

“Charitable giving is a foundational value of ours. Not only does giving bless the recipient, it also blesses the giver as well. Seeing the impact of our clients on their communities through generosity is one of the reasons why I love what I do here. I’m honored to serve you.”

– Jeff Dobyns, President of SageSpring

Your Charitable Giving Impact in 2023

This year, we are celebrating our biggest year of giving yet! Your incredible generosity has impacted countless communities through charitable donations. Here’s a small portion of the impact our clients have made in their communities this year:

Total Number of Accounts Included

Despite rising inflation and the ever-increasing cost of living, 367 of our clients blessed their communities through charitable giving, for a total of $19,982,709.

Total Grants Distributed to Charity

Charitable grants are one way our clients can donate their assets to non-profit organizations and charities. This year, we’re celebrating with our clients who did just that. Our clients distributed 4,313 grants, totaling $7,703,064 grants distributed to charity in 2023. Your generosity continues to inspire us.

Total Contributions to Donor-Advised Funds

Another way our clients can give back to their communities is through donor-advised funds. By contributing to a donor-advised fund, you can support the causes and organizations that you feel strongly about while also enjoying tax-deductible contributions and tax-free growth. Last year, 809 of our clients contributed a total of $6,251,025.36 to donor-advised funds. We enjoy helping you make a positive impact on your community and getting a bonus in return.

How You Can Make a Difference in 2024

The benefits of charitable giving often go beyond what you can see, affecting the lives of people, communities, and organizations across the globe. Here are some strategies that can help you make the most out of your giving in the year ahead. Work with your financial advisor to see how these strategies may fit into your financial goals next year.

1. Create a legacy fund.

If charitable giving is one of your values, you can continue that legacy of philanthropy even after you’ve passed. Work with your advisor to set up a legacy fund with your estate that will continue making a difference in the world in your honor.

2. Create a focused giving strategy.

In our world, there’s always a cause that could use more funding. If you desire to see more of your wealth going toward a particular cause that you’re truly passionate about, it’s time to strategize. When you put together a giving plan, you can choose what charities you’re passionate about that could use your help to make an even bigger difference in a particular cause.

3. Pair your charitable giving with beneficial tax strategies.

Charitable giving tax deductions are a helpful tool in your financial toolbox. Your financial advisor can help you learn more about setting up donor-advised funds, offsetting taxable income, donating appreciated assets, and other giving-focused ways to increase your deductions.

Thank you for choosing to give and make a difference in the world this year. Work with a SageSpring financial advisor to learn how to make charitable giving a priority in the year to come.
