Associate Spotlight: Sara Clegg

One commonality you’ll find among Southwestern Investment Group associates is that they care about you, your family, and your goals. Sara Clegg is no exception, and you’ll quickly learn that she is dedicated to helping clients navigate life’s most important financial decisions. In this spotlight, learn more about Sara and why she’s such an integral part of the Atchison Wealth Team.

SARA’S BACKGROUND

Sara Clegg was raised in West Point, Nebraska—a small farming and cattle town in Northeast Nebraska. For college, Sara attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she graduated with honors. Upon graduating, Sara continued her education by taking graduate-level courses in leadership, marketing, and accounting at Butler University and has since received her certification as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.

HOW SARA CAME TO SOUTHWESTERN INVESTMENT GROUP

A seasoned financial planning professional, Sara worked in the industry for over a decade prior to joining Southwestern Investment Group. Through previous employers, she became extremely familiar with Raymond James, Southwestern Investment Group’s broker-dealer. However, it was upon moving to Omaha to be closer to family in 2015 that Sara met Southwestern Investment Group Financial Advisor and Executive Vice President, Matt Atchison. It was Southwestern’s people-focused approach and strong partnerships with organizations like Raymond James that drew Sara to the company, where she saw an opportunity to help people in her community achieve their financial goals.

WHAT SARA LOVES ABOUT HER ROLE

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Sara’s priority is helping clients achieve their goals. She likes showing them the possibilities ahead of them, guiding them along their path and helping them to establish a roadmap for their financial future.

SARA’S ADVICE TO OTHERS CONSIDERING A CAREER IN FINANCE

“Second only to health, having an understanding of money and finances is one of the most important ways to set yourself up for an abundant life,” Sara says. She firmly believes that the best way to learn is by doing, and therefore encourages all young people—and especially women—to explore opportunities in the financial planning industry.

Start with talking to people in the industry, Sara suggests, or look to join professional networking groups where you can learn from industry professionals. She adds, “Have a willingness to learn from others. Southwestern’s culture of teaching and mentorship are a great match for people with this mindset who are interested in exploring our industry.”

SARA’S JOYS IN HER PERSONAL LIFE

Outside of her everyday work in guiding and advising her clients, Sara loves outdoor adventures with her family and exploring on road trips with her amazing group of girlfriends. She runs (“slowly,” as she says) and regularly practices yoga. Sara lives in Gretna with her husband, Andrew, and their two school-aged sons who are in first grade and kindergarten.
